5 More Home Steam Shower Tips

3rd Oct 2016

Welcome back! Yesterday, we discussed a topic that everybody is interested in, which is steam showers. It might seem impossible to enjoy sitting on a smooth teak shower bench and relax in the midst of comforting steam from home, but believe us, it’s not. However, if you’re considering having a steam shower installed at home, there are a few things to keep in mind to make the process go a little smoother.

Keep reading for 5 more commonsense tips about home steam showers. Whether you or a contractor is performing the installation, these tips will help to keep things cool.

  1. Before buying and/or installing any lighting fixtures that will be placed inside the shower, make sure they are approved vapor sealed fixtures.
  2. Your steam shower requires a generator to produce the steam, and you’ll want to consider where the generator is going to be placed. Many people install them in closets, heated attics and basements, or vanities. Ideally, generators are installed within 60 feet of the shower itself.
  3. When the steam head is installed, it should be placed between 6-12 inches above the floor, and it should be opposite your seating area and away from the shower door. The best steam heads are those that remain cool when touched.
  4. Make sure that when the in-shower controls are installed, they are placed away from a spot where direct steam flow will hit.
  5. It’s important that no air conditioning units, heating devices, or venting is installed within the steam room itself.
